Catching Up

Hola friends!

Lately life has been crazy, good crazy, mind you, but still pretty crazy. Due to the fact that I’m not the only one that seems to be this busy, I’ve found myself catching up with friends, family, etc. lately, and thought – why not catch up with my blog as well, right? During the non-summer months I found that I ended up doing mid-week catchups with my blog readers when I didn’t have recipes or tips in mind, and I think that’s something I should do again – let me know what you think!

So here we go, fitness, food, fashion (and life), you’ll find it all in this post!


Twelve weeks ago, I made what for me has been the best decision fitness-wise yet, and that was to start Kayla Itsines’ Bikini Body Guide. I cant tell you just how many times I got up before 6am to workout before school, or how many times I silently wondered just why leg day has to include burpees, lunge jumps, and squats, etc. but what I can tell you is that I loved every challenging 30-minute session that I clocked in. Honestly after doing her guide, along with either yoga or the recommended cardio, I am in the best shape of my life. I push myself each workout, fuel my body in the best way I know how to, and enjoy life’s fun moments like parties, birthdays, etc. without pausing to worry about my progress. Her workouts are by far some of the most challenging, fun and effective ones I have come across and I can only say good things about the guides! I sincerely hope that for any of you out there who are looking for a fun 12-week challenge, join #KaylasArmy and try the guides – you wont regret it! I originally planned on re-doing my favourite workouts from weeks 9-12 again, but I decided to bite the bullet and head right into weeks 13-24! After my first leg day.. I can’t walk, lol.




I have a thing for obnoxiously colorful and fun workout gear, and my recent purchases fitness-wise have most definitely fallen into that column. I get my athletic wear from Winners because I find the best quality brands for affordable prices, making me and my wallet super happy. My two recent finds? Those rose-hued pants below and these hippie tie-dye ones from The Balance CollectionBoth of these beauties allow me to get into the bendy-ist of yoga poses while also being totally off-the-mat appropriate – #score. When I’m not in active wear, I’ve been loving all things summer; denim cut-offs, gladiator sandals, big Prada-style sunnies, and anything loose, flow-y and pastel (as per usual). The perfect accessory to all of this? A bold raspberry colored lip (to go along with all of the seasonal fruit).




Job applications and driving exams have had me feeling pretty darn grown up as of late, but as with anything, it’s best to take things slow in the start (except when you’re driving.. don’t do what I did and go 30 in a 50 zone.. #fail). Aside from a small heartbreak following my failed driving test, I’ve zipped back into normal and have been loving the crazy beautiful life I get to live. I’ve been heading down to the beach most afternoons to get my tan on, along with being totally in the summer-BBQ mindset – patio living has been a must. Evenings spent enjoying my neighborhood, having long conversations and lingering over big mugs of tea have been the usual. It’s safe to say that I don’t want these easy summer days to end (hello – I get to sleep in and workout midday; I love it).




I figured I should end with my faaavourite of topics – food. The summer months are my jam because it means garden tomatoes, cucumbers, berries, plums and *wait for it* FIGS (aka my most favourite food in the world). Alongside those beauties, green smoothies have been a daily habit, along with sprinkling goji berries on just about everything, and adding organic coconut chips to my (bulgur) oatmeal. I’ve been revving up my engine in the kitchen, experimenting with burger recipes (so far I’ve got a Black Bean Cauliflower and Portabella Mushroom burger on the horizon), and I couldn’t be happier to have a barbeque at my disposal because fire-roasted zucchini and red peppers have been mandatory at every grill-out. Big bowl salads have been a daily lunch, and my mug-cake game is still going strong, with the possibility of a cookie-dough Quest Bar making an appearance being a daily surprise ( 😉 ).
