Weekend Getaway to Victoria // VLOG

Hello, beauties!

Click here to be directed to my YouTube channel where you can watch the entire vlog of this experience!

First off, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of the lovely individuals who left such kind words on my last blog post. I could not be more blessed and grateful to participate in this Blog Hop and connect with so many interesting, talented and sweet bloggers. This is already a pleasure so far..I can’t wait to see how it improves each each day! Your supportive and encouraging words are the reason I do what I do, and it means the world to me.

On another hand, todays post is all about our recent trip to Victoria! We are so blessed to have had the opportunity to stay in the renowned Fairmont Empress Hotel for our vacation, and it truly is all that its cracked up to be! We did some sightseeing and souvenir shopping as well; visiting the Legislative Assembly (Parliament) Buildings, walking along the waterfront and shopping at an authentic Irish store (which was our favourite store of trip). The food was incredible, and I definitely indulged at every meal, yet still stuck to heading to the hotel gym each night to wind down and sweat it out. I had a lovely time, and this annual trip to the Fairmont is something I look forward to all year long! Next year its in the same location as last years.. Whistler! (My favourite!!)

I can’t say enough about the architecture of the building though.. It was built in 1908 and has a very regal air to it! It feels so elegant and classy, and is a truly massive hotel (over 400 rooms!) . The hallways are quite quiet though, and as the Hotel has a very haunted reputation it can definitely be a bit eerie! Not going to lie, we stayed below the so-called “Haunted 6th floor” and heard a weird howling for over an hour above our heads.. Couldn’t figure out what it was (I thought someone was using a super old vacuum at like 9pm at night, guess not)!! But who knows, hey?

Friday was our Ferry trip over, where I had a California Roll from the cafeteria and some coffee. #typicalmiranda

We ate at Famoso Neopolitan Pizza for the first night; I had their Gorgonzola Walnut Salad, some garlic flatbread and the Dolce and Banana for dessert. We ended up having the sweetest waitress, Laura, who made the experience unforgettable! (I also had the best coffee of my life here). After heading back to the Hotel to unwind, I went to the gym for a quick 15 mins (4 miles) on the elliptical. Fun Fact: this was my first time ever using a machine such as this in a gym.

The next day, we at breakfast in the Empress Room.. I had the Organic Red Quinoa and Steel Cut Oatmeal with organic strawberries, Fairmont wildflower Honey, warm Almond Milk and a Health Boost (Chia, Flax and Hemp seeds). For lunch we (as in myself, my Mum and my Sister) had Afternoon Tea, and I tried one of everything! There was fresh organic strawberries and whipped cream to start, as well as croissants with free range organic egg salad, salmon pinwheels and cucumber sandwiches, a scone each, along with tiny desserts. (Ill provide a link to the menu below).

For dinner I ordered room service for my sister and I; I had the Beet, Goat Cheese and Kale Salad, she had Mac n Cheese, along with buttered Brioche rolls for us both to share.  I followed this up with a trip to the gym in the hotel.. lol. You can see it all in the vlog!

We travelled on the ferry home on Sunday, after another breakfast in the Empress Room, where I had Steel Cut Oatmeal with Bananas, Raisins, Warm Milk & Brown Sugar. The rest of the table ordered “The Canadian” (classic style eggs n bacon breakfast) as well as a serving of pancakes.

(Breakfasts at home.. <3)

And now we are home, which I am so happy about! Its so hard to leave all of our pets behind when we go away for a vacation, and I really did miss their cuteness!

Wishing you above all Health & Happiness

  1. We keep talking about wanting to do a weekend in Vancouver. I hear great things. Looks like you had a wonderful time

You definitely should!! Vancouver is a stunning city, so diverse, vibrant and lots and lots of fantastic food! Stanley Park is a must see if you ever stop by, and so is Grandville Island (not really an island, haha!). There are a lot of great family activities too, and the shopping on Robson Street is quite nice if you enjoy that kind of stuff! 🙂

Sounds like a great adventure, I’m going to have to check out your YouTube. I have a Youtube, but I’m terrible at actually putting content in there. 🙂

I have to say I too am a newbie at YouTube, and my video editing skills could definitely use some work! Hopefully they will improve once I get a better hang of things (and better equipment)! Thanks for stopping by 🙂

  3. Wow! Looks like you had an incredible trip!! And every single one of your meals looks incredible! I don’t know if I’ll ever make it to Victoria, so I’m so thankful to get to live vicariously through you!!

Thank you so much! It was a lovely vacation, but I couldn`t be happier to be home again! It truly is a lovely, historic city – although its fairly close to me, I rarely make the trip over so it was nice to be reminded how pretty it is! 🙂

Sounds like you had some really good food on your trip! The oatmeal looked really good! I am with you, it is fun to go away but I always end up missing my pup. I can’t wait to get home to her!

The food had to be the main star for this trip, haha! Honestly, one of my favourite things to eat out for breakfast is oatmeal.. theres just something lovely about having someone else make it for me! 😉 I totally get missing your pup – my family and I have 3 dogs, 2 cats and a rabbit, and we miss them like crazy when we go away! I swear I go up to every persons dog I see and pet them because I miss my own so much!

  5. I don’t know which I thought looked better–the scenery or the food!
