Get Healthy for 2016 Part III: Exercise

Today we are finishing up my three part series on how to start the New Year with fresh intentions, a positive mindset, and a healthy body by talking about one of my favourite things – exercise! Not only does eating as minimally processed food as possible, treating yourself with love and compassion and having grace each day affect your health in a positive way, but ensuring that you move at least 30 minutes each day brings along with it a slew of other health benefits. Exercise lowers your risk of heart disease, stretches, strengthens and elongates your muscles and it gives your body good mood food: endorphins.

I recommend trusting your body on this one, and taking each day as a blank slate to tune into your inner desires, and become consciously aware of the kind of organic movement your body is craving each day. Sometimes it may be a long run, some simple yoga stretches, or a spin class. Be gracious with yourself and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, or perhaps dial it down a bit too, it’s all dependant on how you feel. Trust yourself.

Personally, I enjoy integrating both HIIT Resistance Training (by following Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide) and Yoga Flows into my weekly workouts, as well as lot’s of walking. This is what works for me, my energy levels, time frame and my lifestyle, but it may be different for you. What works for one person may not work for another, so don’t become down on yourself if you find you are unable to commit to an hour long workout at the gym, opt for a simple run in your neighborhood instead or vice versa.

Today I am going to share 2 of my favourite workouts with you, both of which can be done from the comfort of your own home!

Workout #2 – Beginner’s Yoga Flow with Mindfully Miranda





If you are just beginning, maybe on a Monday you will try the BBG workout, rest a bit, and then take on yoga on Friday. Maybe you will find the BBG workouts on Pinterest and do them Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and incorporate yoga into your daily round on a Thursday, or maybe you will start something entirely different, such as Spinning, Cross Fit or Weight Training. It all depends on where you are along your journey, and each and every step is a beautiful one. Start slow, don’t give up, and trust in the process.
